Hidalgo is located in South Texas on the U.S./Mexico border.
It is South of McAllen, Texas and just across the border from Reynosa, Mexico, a city of over 1,000,000 in population and approximately one hour from the Gulf of Mexico.
Border crossings are frequent and daily with over 2.8 million vehicles and1.5 million pedestrians, both in and from Mexico.
Hidalgo is home to one of the busiest ports-of-entry along the U.S.-Mexico border and is situated close to existing trade and manufacturing-related infrastructure.
The Hidalgo-Reynosa, Mexico international Bridge is the 4th largest port of entry on the Southern U.S. border. Hidalgo’s population is at 13,273. The population in the Rio Grande Valley increases each winter as the valley becomes home to 150,000 “Winter Texans” or retirees who spend their winters in the south.
The Valley’s mild semi-tropical year–round climate makes for outdoor living 365 days a year. Average rainfall is 23.2” and average temperature is 74 degrees. Seasonal temperature in January is 63 degrees and July 84 degrees.
State Farm Arena, a 6,800 entertainment venue is located in Hidalgo and is home to the Killer Bees Hockey Team and to the Vipers, an NBA Development League Team. Since State Farm Arena opened in 2003, the venue has sold out concerts/sport events including George Strait, Kenny Chesney, Aerosmith, Cher, Alan Jackson, WWE, Elton John, Shakira, Selena Gomez, Houston Rockets and many more.
